How to Clean Your Split AC

How to Clean Your Split AC

Often times, when we complain that our Air Conditioner is not cooling, what it really needs is some good old fashion cleaning.

If you’re quite handy with DIY tasks at home, you might want to clean your AC yourself. But if you’re not so confident that you can do it, please call a technician to clean it for you.

Please note, cleaning your AC is quite different from servicing your AC because servicing an AC involves a whole lot more than just cleaning. And most times, you’d need a competent technician to do that for you.

Here are some DIY (Do-it-Yourself) tips on how to clean your split unit AC.

  • Turn off power supply.
  • Open AC panel.
  • Remove the filter (If your unit has more than one filter, remove them one after the other).
  • Underneath the filter, you’d usually find the evaporator. Take a clean cloth and gently clean the evaporator to remove any dirt.
  • Use a soft cloth to clean the body of the AC.
  • To clean the filters, put them under a tap and clean thoroughly.
  • Let the filters dry before placing them back.
  • Shut the AC panel securely.
  • Now you can turn power supply back on and enjoy your AC.
